Charming village location with inviting garden space.
I faced issues with the sloping ceilings, which caused me to hit my head a couple of times. The breakfast timing starting at 9 a.m. was quite limiting, forcing us to opt for the in-room continental option, which was not our first choice. the staff seemed overwhelmed and less attentive, potentially due to the busy festival, making it harder to enjoy our stay fully.

Room decor needs updating.

absolutely abysmal experience! dusty room and a messy bathroom bin—they really woudl ve been better off cleaning up! furthermore, i woudl ve appreciated a room upgrade for the inconvenience, as it seemed like common courtesy. I almost thought of leaving a decent review, but the disappointment weighed too heavily on me. there’s clearly room for improvement!

Located in a charming village, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, enhanced by quirky architecture that adds old-world charm. The staff were incredibly attentive, ensuring an enjoyable stay, and the breakfast spread was delicious with fresh fruits available. the heat in the rooms was a drawback, and a fan only somewhat alleviated the warmth during summer. Limited seating in communal areas could also impede relaxation after a long day.

I had a lovely couple of nights here! The quirky period bedroom had a comfortable bed and great tea making facilities, but it was a bit warm. Breakfast was amazing with perfectly poached eggs!

comfortable stay but a few drawbacks
The Deluxe Double Room was spacious with a cozy bed. Check-in was smooth since I was allowed to enter earlier due to my wedding schedule. The provided fan helped manage the heat effectively during my summer stay. The garden view was a delightful addition during breakfast, making it a refreshing start to the day.
The room lacked air conditioning, making it a bit too warm for comfort in the summer.

The Quadruple Room was delightful with its four-poster bed and cozy setup. Breakfast was a treat, featuring a great selection of cereal, and the staff were exceptionally helpful throughout the stay. The pub's location in the heart of Ashwell makes it easy to explore this charming village.
Heating system too warm.

would definitely return here
The quadruple room was comfy and had a fridge. Tea/coffee maker. Loved the four-poster bed! Great selection of cereal bars in the room. The garden area is beautiful with all tables safely distanced. Breakfast was nice, but a bit of a wait. Staff tried to help with everything, which was appreciated.
